The Unité de recherche RIRRA 21 from the Université Paul-Valéry Montpellier 3 and the Research Group ERASMUSH from the Universidad de Oviedo are pleased to promote the International Conference «Analysing Spanish Music and Music inspired by Spain (1833-1939): languages, sources of inspiration, compositional procedures, archetypes», organized in two joint and independent parts, the first one in Montpellier in 2021, and the second one in Oviedo in 2022. This Conference aim to promote the analytical approaches to music around Spain from the beginning of the Isabella II Reign to the end of the Civil War.

The first part will be held in the Université Paul-Valéry Montpellier 3, from Thursday 28 until Friday 29 October 2021. The second one will take place in the Universidad de Oviedo, from Thursday 28 until Friday 29 April 2022. Therefore, a new call for papers will be published for this second one.

Because of the continuing uncertainties arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, the organizers of this conference will make contingency plans for an online event, if an in-person gathering is not possible.

The programme committee encourages submissions within the following areas, although other topics are also welcome: - Analysis of Repertoires - Analysis and Performance - Aesthetic and Analysis - Analysis and musical creation - Analysis Methodologies and theoretical approaches

The official languages of the conference are English, French and Spanish. No simultaneous translations will be available.

Papers are limited to twenty minutes in length, allowing time for questions and discussion.

All proposals should be submitted by email no later than Sunday 19 September 2021 to analysingspanishmusic@gmail.com Please submit an abstract of no more than 500 words and one page of biographical information, including your name, contact details (postal address, e-mail and telephone number) and (if applicable) your affiliation.

The committee will make its final decision on the abstracts by the end of September 2021, and contributors will be informed immediately thereafter. The programme will be announced after that date.
